This all-wood baby gate stretches to fit gaps measuring from 2.5 to over 4 feet wide. It opens easily, latches automatically, and features sculpted upper bars and turned vertical rails for a less utilitarian look. It's also safe for use on stairs, provided that the included hardware is secured into studs or other solid wood. The mounting points are designed to accommodate baseboards or other features that make the gap width uneven. A Phillips screwdriver and an electric drill with both 5/32-inch and 3/16-inch bits are required for installation. --Richard Farr
